Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Annaghvacky

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Annaghvacky is a much-degraded earthen bank in County Louth, Ireland. The sub-circular area measures about 39m north-south and 37m east-west. The bank is about 6.5m wide, rising 0.3m internally and 0.8m externally. It is an old human boundary, not a fairy bargain, though local names often prefer the strange version.
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Sub-circular area (int. dims. 39m N-S, 37m E-W) enclosed by much-degraded earthen bank (Wth c. 6.5m, H c. 0.3m internally, 0.8m externally).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
