What is recorded here
Discovered prior to road construction (Excavation Licence No. 93E0098). A 45m section of a ditch was excavated and it continued beyond the road take. It ran downhill from a corn drying kiln (LH012-083----). Its width varied between 1m and 4 metres. Two adult human skeletons and a flint scraper were found in the fill. The precise function of this ditch is not certain but it appeared to be associated with the operation of the kiln, perhaps for diverting unwanted water away from it. (O' Sullivan, 1993)
