Enclosure

Located at the bottom of a gentle SW-facing slope. This is not depicted on any OS map. It is a large subrectangular and slightly domed grass-covered area (dims c. 100m N-S; c. 62m E-W) defined by scarps (H 0.6m at S to 1.2m at N), with an outer silted ditch (at W: Wth of top 4-5m; ext. D 0.3-0.4m) W-N. This ditch communicates with a silted drain extending W. An entrance was not identified, and the enclosure is probably part of a relict and probably not very ancient but unmapped field system. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
