Enclosure in Rathpatrick (galmoy By.)

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Enclosure in Rathpatrick (galmoy By.) is a levelled rath in County Kilkenny, Ireland, still shadowed by a broad circular flat area about twenty-five metres across. It sits in low valley grassland with clear views in every direction, the kind of place where people may have gathered, hidden, marked territory or simply watched the sky. The field has been reclaimed and the monument diminished, but the shape remains plausible beneath the grass.
In low-lying flat grassland on the valley bottom with good views in all directions. This enclosure is marked on the Grand Jury Map as being a 'Rath'. The field has been reclaimed and the monument levelled, though it was discernible when inspected in 1987 as a roughly circular, artificially flat area (diam. c. 25m).
