Enclosure in Parknabinnia is a prehistoric D-shaped farm on Roughan Hill at the eastern edge of the Burren, County Clare. It measures about 57 metres northwest to southeast and 35 metres northeast to southwest, with a straight north-northeast side and walls built from the same local stone as the surrounding mound-field system. Another enclosure lies sixty metres to the southwest, and several more farms cluster within two hundred metres, suggesting a small settled landscape rather than a single isolated marker. The shape is plain, but the company is extraordinary: a whole neighbourhood of ancient fields preserved on an open hill.

Situated on Roughan Hill on the E edge of the Burren. Survey and excavation in this area (Jones et al. 2011, 33-58) have revealed a prehistoric landscape comprising farms, cairns and megalithic tombs lying within a contemporary field system (c. 2.5km N-S, c. 1.5km E-W) comprising many sections of prehistoric mound wall (CL016-172----). Four such farms are clustered on Roughan Hill within 200m of each other (see CL016-167003-, CL016-173----, CL017-173001-, CL016-174----, CL016-176----, CL016-177----). This record is for one of two enclosures designated ‘Farm 7’. The second enclosure (CL016-176----) lies c. 60m to the SW. This enclosure (c. 57m NW-SE; c. 35m NE-SW) is suboval or D-shaped with a straight N-NE side. Lithic artifacts similar to those found on the other prehistoric farms on the hill, along with the morphology of the walls and the fact that it is embedded in the same mound wall system imply that this is also contemporary (ibid., 39).
