What is recorded here
Situated on a S-facing slope in reclaimed pastureland. Not indicated on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map and depicted as a relatively small, oval-shaped enclosure on the 1901-5 ed. Although levelled, the faint outline of a curving bank, possibly defining the S and E portions of a circular enclosure (approx. diam. 27m N-S) is visible. This site may have been a tree-ring similar to one c. 400m to the W.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
