Enclosure in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on the SW-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbaun River to the SW and within the E side of a network of relict field boundaries (KE084-044001-). A circular area (4.8m N-S; 4.6m E-W) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.8m; H 0.4m) which consists of boulder-type stones. The W portion of the interior is raised and the E portion is cut (D 1m) into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. A N-S section of a relict wall from within the field boundary network is c. 20m E of this enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
