Enclosure in Killacorraun

In rough, heather-covered pasture, located on the NE side of a low ridge, with flat expanse of bog to E and SE. Ground falls away to SW. There are extensive views to N and S, blocked to E by forestry plantation. This enclosure is not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-Inch maps. It consists of a circular area (20.7m N–S; 19.5m E–W) defined by a wall/stone bank (W 2.5-3m; int. H 0.3-0.4m; ext. H 0.55m) of loose, tumbled stone. At E–SE a later field wall overlies the stone bank. The interior has a slight slope down to E. A roughly circular pit (4m NNE-SSW; 3m WNW-ESE; D 0.75m), the base of which is covered with stones, is dug into the interior at E. The stone bank is largely covered by heather and ferns.
