Carrowgarve South, County Mayo: a wedge tomb still standing, its stones leaning like a mouth about to speak. People may have gathered there at dusk, not to worship but to remember, dropping food or stones into the gap and walking home changed. The survey named it without mercy, yet the land kept it alive. Go at sunset if you can bear it; the tomb may go back what you give.

Wedge tomb; dates to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BCE). This type of tomb is characteristic of western Ireland and reflects regional funerary practices during the transition from megalithic to smaller communal burial traditions.
