Six enclosures (see KE090-014001-, KE090-014002-, KE090-014004-, KE090-014005-, KE090-014006-) were identified on an aerial photograph (GSI, V. 89/90) taken in 1973. The area was inspected by C. Murphy on 7/05/2005 and found to be in rough grazing on boggy ground on the E side of the Small River. Mature forest of conifers are to the W, N and S. The landowner calls the enclosures 'hagggarts' and remembers making cocks of 'fionnán' (a type of long whitish moorgrass) with his father at these locations. He also recalls seeing neighbours using similar type enclosures for fionnán cocks on both sides of the river. This enclosure (diam. 8m) is circular in plan, enclosed by a low bank (Wth 0.7m; H 0.1m) and surrounded by an outer drain or ditch (Wth 1.2m; D 0.35m). The material from the ditch formed the protecting bank for the cock of 'fionnán'. Another enclosure (KE090-014004-) adjoins this enclosure to the S. According to the landowner, this is similar to the other enclosures that were identified in the area.
