What is recorded here

Located on a SW-facing slope. This field is at the E end of the largest section of the Black Pig’s Dyke in Co. Monaghan (MO021-011----), and it was known in the 1940s as ‘the fort field’, but there was no evidence of an earthwork then and the precise location of any fort is not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
