Enclosure in Cloonaquin

In an area of marshy grassland and rock outcrop on the W bank of the N-S Bonet River with the stream c. 100-140m distant. This is a grass-covered D-shaped area (dim. 19m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.45m) at E and W and by an overgrown earth and stone bank (Wth 2.4m; H 0.25m) at S. There is no visible fosse and an original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
