Cloonaquin holds a vanished oval fort on the eastern slope of Benbo Mountain. The 1835 survey marked a twenty-metre embankment, but grass and scrub have erased every trace. It may have been a small dwelling, a boundary marker or a fairy trap. The mountain kept the shape long after the people forgot it.

Indicated as a small oval embanked enclosure (max. ext. dim. c. 20m E-W) on the 1835 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, it is located towards the bottom of the E-facing slope of Benbo Mountain, in an area of hilly scrub and rock outcrop. No features is visible at ground level in grass and scrub. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
