Enclosure in Ballybar Upper is a slightly elongated raised oval platform, about 40m north-south, on a slight rise in County Carlow. It may be a ringfort, the kind of place where a family kept goats, children and arguments inside one tight circle while the flat land rolled past. Even if no wall remains, the shape still does the work of a wall, holding a small life up above the ordinary field.

Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Shown on 1938-9 'OS 6-inch' map as slightly elongated raised oval platform on slight rise which may incorporate part of site (est diam. c. 40m N-S). Possibly a ringfort.
