Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Jamestown, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the crest of a NE-facing slope on a SE-NW spur and presents a circular grass-covered area measuring 33.5m NE-SW and 32.5m NW-SE. An earth and stone bank defines the interior, while a rounded fosse separates it from an outer bank. The NE entrance measures 1.8m wide and connects to a causeway, with lazy beds visible inside the perimeter.
At the crest of the NE-facing slope of a SE-NW spur. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 33.5m NE-SW; 32.5m NW-SE) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3.7-7m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.2-1.8m) which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.5m) at SE, separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 6-8m; Wth of base 1.5-3m; D 0.65-1m) from an outer bank (Wth 3-3.5m; ext. H 0.25-0.75m). The entrance (Wth 1.8m) and causeway are at NE, and there are lazy beds in the interior (max. ext. dims 49.5m NE-SW; 47m NW-SE). Rath (RO044-082001-) is c. 5m to the NW.
