Ecclesiastical enclosure in Cloonmacduff

The enclosing element is indicated as a scarp N-S on the 1913 OS 6-inch map but is not visible at ground level. According to O'Rorke (1878, 98), this is the site of a 'cashel' which surrounded a church (SL020-210001-) and graveyard (SL020-210003-) and it was used as a haggard in the early part of the 19th century. It was subsequently levelled and the stones from the enclosing wall were 'sunk underground' (ibid.).
