Templemolaga, the chief church of the Tuath O Cuscraidh, still holds its ground on the north bank of the Funshion despite losing every visible wall. St Molaga, born nearby at Liathmuine around 590 AD, likely planted the first cross there before the 12th-century structure rose in its place. A bullaun stone remains at the site, waiting for hands that remember how to pray without scaffolding.
On N bank of River Funshion. Presumably on same site as 12th-century church (14387) known locally as Templemolaga. According to Joyce (Grove White 1905-25, vol. 1, 12-3), church at Aghacross established by St Molaga, who was born nearby at Liathmuine (12307) (ibid., 15) around 590 AD (Hanley et al. 1995, 1). Described as chief church of the Tuath O Cuscraidh (Power 1932, 30) in Crichad an Chaoilli. No visible surface trace of enclosure (pers. comm. J. Monk). Bullaun stone (13908) associated with site.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

A 7th- to 10th-century ecclesiastical enclosure, likely associated with St Molaga, who founded a church at Aghacross in the 12th century; local tradition links the site to Templemolaga and the broader early Christian landscape of the region. The site is sometimes associated with fairy lore due to its ancient and sacred character.
