Earthwork in Rockfield (clanmorris By.)

Located in pasture, with a gently fall of ground to SE. This earthwork is not shown on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps; it is recorded in an aerial photograph (OS 2 4343 –4; Roll 216, pr. 19; SMR file). Subrectangular area (16m NE–SW; 20m NW–SE) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m at NE, 0.8m at SW), incorporated on the SE side into a later property fence. Stones protrude from the scarp in parts. The interior surface is uneven with several hummocks and dips, and with stones protruding from the sod in parts, especially at the SE. At SW two parallel narrow, shallow trenches (Wth 0.9m) set 1.9m apart traverse the length of the earthwork on a NW-SE axis, possibly cultivation features.
