What is recorded here

Situated on demesne land on the SW-facing slope of a low hill in undulating countryside, 213m SE of Bellgrove House. Depicted as a circular platform-type earthwork the interior of which was planted with trees on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map, not indicated on subsequent editions of the OS 6-inch maps. May have been a tree-ring associated with the landscaping undertaken by the opccupants of Bellgrove House. Not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 10 January 2012
