Drumcahill Grave Yard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Drumcahill Grave Yard in County Galway remains an active stone-walled chamber where new grief joins old silence. Its almost square limits hold generations beneath soil that has never stopped receiving them. The living still carry dead across this small ground, proving memory does not expire anywhere near as quickly as people imagine.
This almost square graveyard (c. 35m E-W; c. 34m N-S), which is enclosed by a stone wall, is associated with a chapel (GA116-021----) and is still in use. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 29 January 2020
