Six storeys of limestone rose on that Clare platform before gravity and time dismantled the pride. O'Shaughnessys built it, O'Briens bled for it, and English sheriffs died inside it. The wall fell again in 1990, not from siege but from rot, carrying a chimney into the earth like a man swallowing his own voice. What remains is a corner, sharp and honest, preserving murder holes and vaulted chambers while the rest dissolved into legend.
