What is recorded here
Half of the Curraclone cross has sunk into the earth, leaving only the top of its T-shaped arms to catch the light. The carver cut those terminals with deliberate care, shaping a small limestone slab into a marker for the dead beside the ruined church. Centuries of soil claimed the lower shaft, but the upper geometry still stands out against the grass. What is missing has not disappeared; it has simply moved beneath the ground, waiting for someone to dig or imagine the rest.
Curraclone Graveyard is a cemetery in County Laois, Ireland.
