Crannog in Keelagh (tullygarvey By.),mullacroghery is a small subcircular island in Coppony Lough, County Cavan, marked on OS maps from 1836 and 1876. It sits about 45 metres from the shoreline, close enough to reach yet far enough to feel chosen. A crannog is usually a made or taken island for living, hiding, keeping animals or marking boundary. In this case the water did the shaping and human hands may have done the rest. The place still works like a small room set adrift, with the lake as its floor and the sky as its roof.
