Conleen holds a small circular island called Currant Island, sitting sixty metres from the Cavan shore. The lake itself seems to breathe, because the island appeared as mainland on one map and returned as a separate crannog on another. That shifting water may have hidden a home, a boundary marker or a forgotten garden, but the lake keeps its own counsel and gives back only a dot on paper.

On the 1913 ed. the island is shown as being part of the mainland, probably the result of a substantial drop in water-levels in the lake.
