Crannog in Castlegar (galway By.) is an oblong platform close to the south shore of Ballindooly Lough, measuring sixteen metres north-south and eleven east-west. It stands slightly above the water, feels dry underfoot, and carries the clear shape of human making rather than natural growth. The nearby tree-covered island belongs to the lake itself, but this flat green space may have served as a small dwelling, shelter or boundary marker in a region where water and land still negotiate their edges.

Close to S shore of Ballindooly Lough. An oblong platform (N-S 16m, E-W 11m) which was mantled in meadowsweet, notably dry underfoot, and c. 0.6m proud of the water level at time of visit. Appears to be artificial and may well be a crannog. The prominent tree-covered island on SW fringes of the lake is completely natural.
