Crannog in Cappanouk

The precise location of a crannog in the 'bog of Cappanook' has not been identified. Lynch (1932, 42) recorded the following tradition about an island in the bog of Cappanouk, he wrote that a dwarf, named Dara, 'resided on an island in the bog of Cappanook, where there was a lake named Liath, or "gray". Whatever we may think of this story, there was at any rate an island in the bog of Cappanook connected with the dwarf, and the name Cappanook is from the Irish Ceapach an abhaic, the tillage plot of the abhac or "dwarf" whose "castle" was on this island which was his ceapach'.
