Cooragannive Burial Gd (Disused) is a vanished burial ground south of the Ilen in County Cork, Ireland. It disappeared when a plough cut through the pasture around 1949, erasing the last visible trace of the dead. The ground may have held ancestors for centuries before becoming ordinary farm soil, but human hands and iron teeth removed the marker without warning.
In pasture to S of river Ilen. According to landowner, burial ground ploughed out c. 1949: no visible surface trace. Marked on OS 6-inch map (1842) c. 150m to E of this location (CO132-068---).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
