Clenagh Castle was built in the late 16th century by the O'Donnell family, a prominent Gaelic Irish clan. It is remembered as an example of early defensive architecture in the region and reflects the strategic importance of the area during the Tudor conquest of Ireland.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
