Clais na Laoigh

Marked only on the 1927 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, the name means the 'trench of the calf'. Situated in pasture in the valley of the Bride River. It is described by Power (1905, 121-2; 1952, 28) as a depression which was the traditional S terminus of the 'Rian bó Phadraig' (WA012-007----/WA011-010----/WA020-028----) where a calf thief was killed.
