What is recorded here

There is a local report of a cist containing a small pot that was uncovered during building operations in Emyvale during 1959 (Irish News 09/03/2015), but the pot was thrown away subsequently (Monaghan County Museum file). The location where the cist was found is not known precisely. Updated by: Michael Moore Revised date of upload: 29 August 2017
A cist burial, likely dating to the Early Christian or Iron Age period; its significance lies in the rare local report of a funerary context, though the associated artefact was lost.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
