Wood-Martin (1887-8, 272) recorded the discovery, during ploughing, of a cist containing an urn in John Coleman's field in the 1880s. Not precisely located. It is one of three cists known from Rathbarran townland (see SL025-051002-; SL025-071002-). Bronze Age cist; part of a small group of funerary monuments in the Rathbarran area. Its inclusion of an urn suggests a burial practice associated with the earlier phases of the Bronze Age in Ireland.
