Cist in Macreary

According to Waddell (1990, 134) this was a short cist (0.61m x 0.46m) which had a floor slab and contained a pottery vessel and cremated bones. It was found c. 1948-9 when a plough struck the capstone (OPW files). The vessel was inverted over the bones and was said to be decorated with diamond like designs (ibid.). The broken vessel and bones were returned to the cist which was again covered with the capstone and back-filled with earth (ibid.).
