No visible surface trace of church; shown as rectangular structure (c. 18.5m E-W; c. 7m N-S), 'in ruins', on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Sketch in OS archives, made in 1844 (Walsh 1987a, 145), shows gap, presumably doorway, towards W end of S wall, large gap at E end, and notes 'interior occupied by several graves'. O'Flanagan (1844, 166) described 'a low ruin...all traces of the doors and windows have been destroyed'. According to Smith (1750, vol. 1, 294) dedicated to St Finian. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
