What is recorded here

This church was dedicated to St Nicholas as mentioned in the Red Book of Ossory (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 371). Situated on a ridge, with excellent views. Remains consist of a low rectangular mound of rubble, with wall facing visible at the W end. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
