According to Adams (1881, 493-4) in this townland there stood the old church of 'Glynsagh' confirmed by Pope Clement III in 1189 to St Mary's Abbey, Dublin. Some years later Kenereg FitzHenry, Lord of Cloghran, gave lands to the Abbey. Pope Clement V later confirmed to the Abbot and Convent of Blessed Mary by Dublin their various churches including 'Clonsagh'. It was ploughed up in the 1820's and the tombstones used to cover drains (Appleyard 1985, 165-167).The exact location of this monument is unknown.
