Church in Knawhill

Within burial ground (14137), in early ecclesiastical enclosure (13885). Low grass-covered remains (max. H 1.3m; min. H 0.1m) of rectangular structure (17.7m E-W; 7.3m N-S) on S side of burial ground (17m from W bank; 14m from S bank) may be church site referred to by Bowman (1934, 618), although he places it on N side of burial ground. He noted '...about 6 yds of the N side and 5 yds of the W side may be seen' (ibid.). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
