Lisnaferney

In pasture, on gentle NE-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular raised area (diam. c. 28m) on 1937 OS 6-inch map, with external fosse to E and outer bank WSW->N; outer bank maybe incorporated into field boundary system to SE and S. Levelled; raised interior survives as slight rise. Concentric earthen bank (int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.2m) remains E -> SW; low rise to NE. Lisnaferney, Ferryfort is a likely early-medieval ringfort, characterised by a circular raised area with an external fosse and bank features. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy lore, and they were historically regarded as dwellings of supernatural beings or ancient chieftains.
