This church is referred to in the 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 2 East and South Cork' (1994, 257) under the entry (no. 5685) for a graveyard (CO113-011002-). The reference to the church in the entry reads: 'No visible surface trace of Ballyfoyle parish church which stood to N of centre (site indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map); in repair 1615 but ruinous by 1639 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 354-5).
