Church in Ballyduff East,ballyduff West

Situated in scrub in Ballyduff village on a SE-facing slope. There is a local tradition of an older RC church at Ballyduff before the present RC church was built in 1822, but there is no evidence of it a ground level. A bullaun stone, an irregularly-shaped stone (dims. 0.5m x 0.4m; T 0.1-0.22m) that has been fractured and has a single shallow basin (dima. 0.3m; D 8cm) was found when a derelict house near the site was removed c. 1980. The bullaun stone is now at a nearby farmhouse (WA016-128----). Archaeological testing (06E0623) in the vicinity failed to produce any evidence of the church (Scully 2009).
