In pasture, the Dawn River flows eastward c. 170m to the S. A rectangular enclosure (dims. 48m NNW-SSE; c. 56m ENE-WSW) identified by Lidar commissioned by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (pers. comm. Dowling 6 December 2017) and visible on Digitalglobe (https://binged.it/2ks6RpG). Another rectangular enclosure (WA016-139----) is located immediately to the S. The enclosure appears to be enclosed by a bank/scarp and outer fosse. The W bank appears to be truncated by a field boundary running roughly N-S along the W side. The two enclosures may relate to the unlocated castle-like structure depicted on the Down Survey (1655-6) Barony map of Middlethird and which is probably also the structure referred to in the terrier of the Down Survey map of Kilmeaden parish at Cullinagh as a thatched house (WA016-069----).
