Christy Moore was born in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland, on 7 May 1945. He is an Irish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist who co-founded Planxty and Moving Hearts. His music blends driving rhythms on acoustic guitar and bodhrán with slower ballads, often carrying political and social commentary. In 2007, RTÉ named him Ireland's greatest living musician.
