Children's burial ground in Lurga Upper

In a possible cashel (MA073-059001-). There is a tradition that the cashel interior was used as children’s burial ground. According to local information, a feature was uncovered slightly W of centre in the cashel, which had the appearance of a grave. It consisted of a row of flat stones, aligned roughly E–W, with a low upright stone at one end. The upright stone (Wth 0.4m; T 0.15m; H 0.10m) was left in situ but the flagstones were removed. Underneath was a shallow layer of damp soil of a different consistency to the soil elsewhere in the interior. This layer overlay natural gravel subsoil; no bones were found.
