Kilbride in County Mayo holds a children’s burial ground where an oval killeen lies flat on the ground with a few stones still visible. Aldridge recorded it in 1969, and the 1838 OS Letters already marked a burial ground in that townland, suggesting the site has been known for generations. It may be the place where infants and young children were laid to rest apart from the main churchyard, a quiet distinction that still shapes how the land should be treated.

Aldridge (1969, 84) recorded this children’s burial ground as follows: ‘In Kilbride (Mayo 91), a Killeen, oval on ground level, with a few stones visible.’ He did not note an exact location, but it is likely to at a burial ground (MA091-039001-) recorded in this townland in the 1838 OS Letters.
