What is recorded here

In the SE sector of a large early ecclesiastical enclosure (CL017-094001-). Westropp (1915, 272) noted: ‘two holes in the field [near the entrance] mark a Man-made underground passage’, adding ‘I am told that, when it was excavated long since by Col. Marcus Paterson, of Clifden, and Mr. Robert Foster, of Rinroe, it was traced under the ring [of the ecclesiastical enclosure] into the garth, but no antiquities were discovered’. No surface trace was visible when inspected in 1999, the area being overgrown with bushes and with only some loose stones visible. A graveyard (CL017-094003-) containing a church (CL017-094002-) is located c. 25m to the NW.
