Cave

Isolated, in a mound in undulating pasture. Well constructed; stone-built, containing three chambers (Wilde 1872) connected by two creepways. Original entrance blocked. Access to Chamber 1 (L 2.3m; Wth 1.8m; H 1.2m) largely infilled and orientated E-W, is gained through displaced lintels. Creepway 1 (L 1.2m; Wth 0.9m; H 0.4m), at W end inaccessible, contains sill stone. Access to Chamber 2 (L 6m; Wth 1.7m; H 1.8m) through hole in back wall of chamber 1, above Creepway 1. Orientated NE-SW, tall orthostats, interspaced with horizontal coursing, and roofed with capstones, were used in its construction. At NE corner lintelled, jambed doorway leads to Creepway 2 (L 1m; Wth .9m; H 1.2m), with sill stone. Chamber 3 (L 7.4m; Wth 1.2m; H 1.8m), orientated N-S, contains two air vents.
