Depicted on an early 17th-century map of Shrule barony (BL, Cotton MS Augustus I.ii.26), in the centre of ‘Ballintroghan’ [Streamstown] townland, and also on the Down Survey (1655-6) map of Abbeyshrule barony (NLI, MS 719), where the spelling of the townland is ‘Ballintroan’. Its precise location has not been identified.
