O'Kelly's 1969 survey named a castle in the old castle field at Russellstown but refused to mark its exact stones. The building may still hide beneath grass or wait behind a hedge, denying every person who walks past it. Forgetting is not loss when the castle simply stops answering questions.
According to O'Kelly (1969, 45) in the townland of Russellstown, there is, 'a ruined castle in the "old castle" field. The location of this castle is unknown within this townland.
