Ballyeaghera Castle vanished before mapping, leaving only a castle hole in Ballycarney and a chain of claims stretching from 1583 through Dowglass, Sexton and Bath. Its absence is not empty; it is a room with the doors removed, where ownership argued across decades without walls for the argument to touch.

The precise location of Ballyeaghera Castle in the townland of Ballycarney has not been identified. Castle not depicted and is not named on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map. Westropp (1906-7, 147) recorded the following details; 'Unknown; probably in Ballycarney. 1583 C[astle]. named. 1640 Lease to J. Dowglass of Ballyvolloge and Ballycherna. 1655 He claimed the interest on behalf of his wife (daughter and heir of F.
