Castle Field in Maryville, Ballinruane, County Limerick, is a small pasture with no visible remains, yet it is still called castle field. Late 16th century documents mention a castle at Ballymurely, and one old account points instead to a rectangular earthwork named Knockaunacappeen. The true castle may have sunk into grass, been broken for stone, or never matched either place at all.

Location of castle at Ballymurely, mentioned in late 16th century documents (Westropp 1906-7, 228), no longer known; Westropp suggests castle may have been rectangular earthwork known as Knockaunacappeen (LI037-027---) but also identifies Ballymurely with Maryville which lies c. 3.5 km to S of earthwork. In Maryville (part of Ballinruane townland) is a small field known locally as "the Castle Field"; however, no trace of any castle features in this field which is under pasture.
