What is recorded here
Castle stood in Athgoe South when the Down Survey mapped County Dublin in 1655-6, though no exact marker survives to show where its stones fell. It may have watched fields, sheltered people or simply marked power before forgetting itself. The absence does not erase the castle; it refuses to be pointed at.
The Down Survey (1655-6) maps show a castle in this townland. The exact location of this monument is unknown.
